Disaster in Turkey and Syria

In the early hours of Monday morning, a devastating earthquake with a 7.8 magnitude with its epicenter at the border of Turkey and Syria, affecting the nearby cities.

At this present moment over 4000 people have died, over 2000 people left under debris and nearly 4 million have been displaced from their homes. The devastation is unprecedented.

Surrounding areas of occupied Palestine, Cyprus, and Lebanon also felt the aftershocks of the initial quake. It is of note that these regions even before this natural disaster are victims of US imperialism and NATO expansionism. The ordinary people of these countries have faced the worst conditions in aspects both political and natural.

The Dallas Anti-War Committee shows its complete Solidarity with the people of these regions, and mourns the loss of life, the destruction of homes and the unfortunate displacement of people. The Dallas Anti-War Committee hopes that peace ensues in the region, from natural devastation and political turmoil.
